Location: This position can be based out of the Denver, CO or Grand Junction, CO office. Job Summary: -The Director of Marketing is the leader/facilitator of the strategic and tactical marketing efforts at Shaw Construction. The director's role is highly collaborative interacting with all executives, preconstruction, project management and project supervision personnel, agencies and service providers. The director is accountable for and must coordinate all marketing activities performed by both internal and external (outsourced) marketing personnel. The Director of Marketing is Shaw Construction's primary "brand steward" ensuring that the Shaw brand supports the highly relational business approach of Shaw Construction and coordinates closely with the dynamic strategic and tactical objectives of the company. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic marketing plans in collaboration with the CEO, President and Vice President of -Business Development and other company stakeholders.
  • Develop marketing strategy, based on knowledge of industry, nature of the market and business expansion intent of the organization.
  • Marketing strategy must compliment and support the organization's business strategy and strategic objectives.
  • Identify and implement appropriate tactics for marketing, communications and brand management.
  • Develop and deliver insightful presentations and strategies to the executive committee where appropriate.
  • Ensure that marketing is integrated throughout the company.
  • Be the brand steward for the company. Ensure that all employees, vendors and subcontractors understand the messages and brand of the company.
  • Be mindful about company objectives, live the values and culture of the company.
  • Engage the marketing team in self and career development.
  • Be a community voice and industry thought leader. Marketing Plan
    • Design, implement, update and facilitate annual marketing plan for the company.
    • Support and facilitate development and implementation of section business/marketing plans.
    • Translate business unit objectives and strategies to develop brand portfolio objectives, strategies and plans to facilitate business growth.
    • Develop both internal and external marketing plans.
    • Work with Director of Personnel on formation of marketing strategy for recruiting efforts. Marketing Budget
      • Plan and administer the company's Marketing Operations budget.
      • Support development of regional marketing budgets. Manage Marketing Department, Consultants, Agencies and Suppliers
        • Supervise marketing team including hired employees and subcontractors such as Marketing Coordinator, Creative Designers, Media Relations Managers, Database Specialists and Regional Marketing Managers.
        • Make staffing and hiring decisions within marketing department.
        • Build and develop a marketing team which is competent, commercially astute, dedicated and efficient.
        • Manage day to day activity with PR, press and marketing communications agencies.
        • Negotiate with media agents to secure agreements for translation of materials into other media.
        • Edit materials according to specific market or customer requirements.
        • Develop promotional materials including marketing collateral, print, online and promotional items.
        • Manage photography of construction projects and teams. Assist with Business Development Activities
          • Actively engage in the real estate development, business and civic community.
          • Network with industry leaders with a focus on engaging clients and potential clients who are planning to build.
          • Offer coaching for prospective client meetings, proposal presentations, etc.
          • Lead the direction in designing and implementing prospect collateral materials.
          • Write proposal and award submissions.
          • Lead and/or coordinate with the pursuit champion on project proposals including direction, strategy, copywriting and design.
          • Be the brand ambassador of the company in industry meetings, events and in the community.
          • Assist the business development department by building on the brand reputation.
          • Arrange valuable and relevant strategic meetings with key industry and community leaders to assist the business development department to garner new business relationships. Lead Corporate Communications Activities
            • Implement and manage external and internal communications including online, email and
              print.
            • Support and coordinate with Vice President of Business Development in the planning and implementation of customer retention programs and initiatives.
            • Manage the company website content, updates and strategic marketing tactics associated with it, such as SEO, multimedia and images.
            • Provide insight and copywriting for internal email, print, advertising and other public communications.
            • Manage vendors for public relations efforts, media efforts and communications consultants.
            • Execute an annual client survey. Develop and Administer Marketing Database in Conjunction with Business Development Efforts
              • To include client and prospect information, mailing list applications, access to project and company information for brand marketing purposes.
              • Collaborate with business development on implementation ensuring shared responsibilities for management and integration.
              • Ensure it is coordinated/integrated with the business development database to ensure seamless and consistent information.
              • Analyze the database in collaboration with business development and IT departments on an ongoing basis to ensure that the software is appropriate to meet the needs of the company, the data is appropriate and content is up to date.
              • Ensure the data is functionally useful for marketing materials and proposal development. Education/Experience/Skills
                • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field.
                • Eight or more years of experience in key corporate and/or agency marketing role(s).
                • Two or more years of experience marketing to the real estate development industry.
                • Entrepreneurial, self-starter with hands-on approach.
                • Enthusiastic about building, construction and development.
                • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution.
                • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
                • Outstanding collaboration, management and facilitation capabilities.
