Position Summary An integral part to the university's $375 Million expenditure research support technology at Colorado State University, this position conducts four major functions: application support, software development, reporting and faculty/staff training and support. This position manages dozens of software applications implemented on different platforms supporting users campus-wide. These application systems are critical to the business process and communications needs of the research mission for the university. Required Job Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Computer Science or closely related field from a major accredited university Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience including: 2 years of professional experience using database systems including Microsoft Access and Oracle 2 years of experience with business intelligence report writing tools such as BIRT, Eclipse, WebFocus 2 years of professional SQL experience in database script writing using SQL Developer or similar tools Working collaboratively with other units in developing data warehouse and data mart resources Ability to investigate, analyze, and synthesize large quantities of data into a user-friendly and concise format Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a strong focus on customer service Preferred Job Qualifications Knowledge of university research methodologies, protocols, compliance, conduct and administration One year of professional work experience with research in higher education Knowledge of the Kuali Research community source software application Knowledge of unstructured databases such as MongoDB Knowledge of tools such as Confluence, JIRA, Microsoft Teams, Team Dynamix, Trello Experience as a developer using programs such as *******, Javascript, Visual Basic, C#, or html web-based applications using database backend Diversity Statement Reflecting departmental and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the Department's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Essential Duties Job Duty Category Reporting Duty/Responsibility Develop specialized data reporting programs Support development of the electronic process to provide university data to Federal agencies. Work directly with the database analyst in constructing scripts, tables, views and schema for research data needs. Examples include the annual Vice President for Research award and proposal report, the annual Vice President for Research Trends report, and various ad-hoc reports used by Research Deans, the Vice President for Research office and the University President to support the research mission of the university Serve as a subject matter expert for sponsored research data contained in multiple databases Percentage Of Time 20 Essential Duties Job Duty Category Application Support Duty/Responsibility Determining the nature of errors on the application servers and host systems and make necessary corrections. Review written and oral procedures for accuracy in regard to these corrections and change procedures as needed. Recover lost data from hardware and software failure and re-run updates to restore most recent database state. Collaborate with other members of community source software applications to implement specific research modules. Examples include application support for current CSU research management systems (Sponsored Programs invoicing system, Conflict of Interest/Conflict of Commitment, and other required Protocols). Percentage Of Time 45 Essential Duties Job Duty Category Software Development Duty/Responsibility Select the appropriate architecture to meet user requirements Develop and maintain VB Access Modules Unit testing Once accepted by the users, the position is also responsible for maintaining and enhancing the application. Examples include: the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) trainee tracking program which combines data from various campus systems (ARIES, HR, Sponsored Programs award management system) to assist with CSU responsible conduct of research training requirements. Percentage Of Time 20 Essential Duties Job Duty Category Faculty/Staff Training and Support Duty/Responsibility Train faculty and staff on new/current computer applications to increase proficiency and accuracy. Develop documented directions/interpretations for specialized software packages. Document unwritten procedures and communicate them by simplifying concepts.
