1 year experience required to qualify for the Sign on Bonus with
2-year commitment.
The Blood Disorders Center at the University of Colorado Hospital
is transforming health care for our malignant blood cancer and
general hematology patients by not only providing exemplary
patient-centered care but also through world-class clinical
research trials and our revolutionary partnership with the CU
School of Medicine in the development of the CARE Innovation
Center, a comprehensive service that brings together health care
and leading industry and start-up partners. We are proud to be the
only hospital in Colorado with five consecutive Magnet designations
and were recently ranked as the #1 Hospital in the State of
Colorado by US News and World Report for the 11th year in a row. We
are also ranked as the #1 Employer in the State of Colorado by
Forbes.
The Blood Disorders Center serves patients with Lymphoma, Leukemia,
MDS, and Multiple Myeloma, as well as rare blood disorders such as
Castleman's Disease, Hairy Cell Leukemia and Langerhans. Some of
these patients will proceed to either an Autologous or Allogeneic
Bone Marrow Transplant or CAR-T Cell Therapy. We also see patients
with Myeloproliferative Neoplasms such as Polycythemia Vera,
Myelofibrosis and Essential Thrombocytosis as well as other
non-malignant blood disorders, including anemia, Sickle Cell
Disease, and Thalassemia. Oftentimes, a patient may begin with a
non-malignant diagnosis and start out in our General Hematology
Clinic and then unfortunately have the disease progress to a
malignancy and the patient will transfer over to our Malignant
Clinic. Our Malignant Clinic and General Hematology Clinic work
together very closely.
The Clinic RN position is responsible for managing care
coordination for our patients by taking on the role of navigator,
educator, and advocate as well as providing direct and indirect
patient care throughout each patient's journey from diagnosis to
survivorship. This person will need to be comfortable working with
a significant level of autonomy, working independently but being
supported by a fantastic team of physicians, fellow nurses, intake
and access coordinators, pharmacists and advanced practice
practitioners all working toward the same goal of delivering
outstanding patient care. This person will collaborate as needed
across multiple disciplines to coordinate patient care, including
managing external and internal referrals, biopsies, scans,
follow-up appointments and supportive oncology resources such as
social work, psychology and dietary consults.
This role will need to effectively delegate patient care to
ancillary personnel and may precept student nurses and new hires.
This job requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and
the ability to work well in teams. This is a fast-paced clinic with
patients presenting in all stages of acuity. While some of the work
will involve direct patient care, the majority of this role
involves working on a computer, interacting with patients
electronically or over the telephone.
