The Student and Community Counseling Center at the University of Colorado Denver Campus has an opening for a full-time, State Classified Administrative Assistant II position.

Job Summary:

The purpose of this full-time, state classified, Administrative Assistant II position is to provide office support to the Student and Community Counseling Center (SCCC). This position is the first point of contact for the University on many levels, either in person, by telephone, or via email in a high-volume setting. This position is responsible for greeting and interacting with prospective clients, crisis walk in's, case management referrals, visitors and/or campus partners. They are responsible for managing the electronic records system, and scheduling crisis appointments for all full-time clinicians and intakes for 20-40 (depending on the semester) counseling students.

This position must have working knowledge to the limits to client confidentiality and ability to manage and verify all legal and critical documents. This position handles correspondence, answers telephones, and manages/schedules the counseling center rooms. This position will provide information re: center services, facilitate referrals to appropriate resources, assist with projects as assigned by the Program Administrator and center leadership, etc.

This is a critical position, since it is typically the first point of contact at the Counseling Center for the University of Colorado Denver. This position is responsible for the panic buttons, locking down the center, and notifying the police when potentially dangerous clients walk in. They must demonstrate de-escalation skills as they will frequently encounter clients who are upset.

For duties to be performed, it is anticipated that the position will be flexible as determined by Counseling Center leadership.

Examples of Work Performed:

Front Desk Coordinator and Communication - 95%

* Functions as a primary point of contact for all visitors to the student and community counseling center.* Provide computer/printer/training lab support.* Greets and directs visitors as they arrive.* Answers and directs all incoming calls for the office.* Manages electronic database and scheduling system (Titanium software).* Provides day to day assistance with general office tasks for staff, honoraria supervisors and faculty, and trainees.* Manage a busy waiting room (up to 15 clients at a time).* Maintain the confidentiality of paperwork.* Work with the Auraria Police department, Case Management and other departments;* Display strong verbal and written communication skills to comfortably interact with outside agencies such as, local police department, Auraria Police Department, Colorado Protective Services, Department of Regulatory Agencies, Social Services Offices, Attorneys, Colorado Crisis Services, and other treatment facilities.* Verify that all computers, video cameras, sound systems, panic buttons, panic button display, copier/fax/scanner, and any other technology in the center is working

Unit Administrative Support - 5%

* Maintains Counseling Center electronic board; schedules prospective client appointments with staff.* Maintains the Counseling Center Front desk and waiting area, counseling rooms and SEHD training lab.* Monitors office and program supplies.* Makes copies, send/receive faxes, send/receive scanned documents.* Verify and copy all the forms in the student room and center lab.* Lock laptops, file cabinets, confidential information, and counseling center doors.* Turn off/on all lights and electronic equipment in the center.

Salary & Benefits:

The starting base salary range is $2,954 - $3,266/ month (non-negotiable)*

* The salary offered is usually the minimum listed, however, a salary above the minimum may be offered for some hard to fill positions.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The individual in this position may also be eligible for additional pay on top of the base salary, in recognition of certain critical skills and/or certifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

One year of general clerical or administrative experience. Substitution: Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Condition of Employment: Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience scheduling appointments and maintaining conference rooms or space, preferably in a clinical, medical, or related environment.* Experience working with confidential medical and/or student data in a higher education environment, mental health environment or related agency.* Receptionist or front desk experience which included working as the first point of contact, communicating policies and collecting information from clients, patients, customers, or students.
