SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

Responsible for developing the lending strategy, executing the short and long-term business strategy, tactical plans, lending policies, new products and services and ongoing best practices and efficiency improvement initiatives of lending functions to support On Tap Credit Union’s vision and value-add to our member-owners. Responsible for ensuring the maximum profitability and effectiveness of lending activities balancing the best interest of the member and sustainability of the organization.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Reports: Manage and develop the lending team: effectively hire, onboard and actively develop staff to highest potential meet regularly to ensure coordination of efforts conduct annual performance appraisals develop and facilitate career growth plans actively ensure backup and succession for positions within area of responsibility Oversee and monitor all lending activities and results to achieve its strategic goals. Direct the work of lending manager(s) in all areas to include underwriting, loan processing, loan documentation, and approval or denial of loans for consumer, mortgage and business loans. Oversee the development and monitoring of performance standards. Provide results mentoring, coaching, and training to support and develop managers and staff. Executive Team Member: Provide strategic vision, counsel and expertise to the CEO and Vice Presidents regarding all aspects of Lending, and support ERM and Collections activities. Participate in the credit union’s long and short term strategic planning. In collaboration with the lending manager set the lending area’s strategic plan to align with the credit union’s business plan approved by the Board of Directors. Establish and ensure the implementation of target goals and their success. Create action plans with a focus on and creating loan growth. Effectively communicate credit union goals and direction with all employees to ensure a clear understanding of vision, direction, regulations and expectations. Assist in preparation and presentation of Board Meetings & Strategic Retreats. Promote expense control to support sound financial management. Maintain a lending budget cycle and track for adherence. Effectively represent and promote the credit union and develop new business relationships. Actively collaborate with departments and the Executive Leadership Team to ensure the organization’s lending activities and strategies align with our loss prevention and risk management controls. Proactively support and build effective relationships with other management team members and work together to advance the organization's mission and vision. Develop and Maintain Strategic 3 rd Party Relationships: Work alongside Lending Manager to research and evaluate feasibility of new loan products, develop and implement plans for expansion of lending programs. Keep abreast of changes in the industry and changing trends in lending and react to changes and new regulations in a way that maintains competitiveness while complying with all lending regulations. Research and evaluate partners to assist with the feasibility of new lending products, sales and service. Manage all third-party relationships within area of responsibility. Ensure Compliance with all Laws and Regulations: Proactively develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with organizational objectives, as well as regulatory requirements while ensuring the policies and procedures facilitate efficient and effective business practices. Coordinates with compliance officer to ensure all loan programs and procedures comply with all federal and state regulations. Ensure effective internal controls within area of responsibility. Effectively monitor, analyze and take appropriate action toward balancing the risks and rewards related to the lending portfolio. Maintain strong relationships with auditors and examiners to effectively resolve audit and exam findings. Effectively manage lending relationship with counsel. Identifies, Manages and Communicates Global Credit Risks Represented in the Credit Union’s Loan Portfolio: Proficiently supports ALM through risk-based loan pricing, product mix, promotions, fee structures and incentives. As an active member of ALCO, work closely to establish interest rate and credit risk guidelines for all lending programs, and coordinate funding for loan production in alignment with the Credit Union's desired balance sheet profile, asset/liability and interest rate risk profiles. Balance implications of departmental decisions on long-term financial stability. Monitor financial results pertaining to the lending portfolio and provide timely analysis to the CEO and Board of Directors. Apply knowledge of credit risks to optimize credit performance. Administer statistical models that estimate current and future credit risks. Complete loan portfolio reports that detail credit quality and performance. Coordinate and perform analytics for credit risk based on specific loan type limits and targets to manage to institutional tolerance. Proactively Negotiate, manage and oversee all vendor management activities related to lending programs. Provide Strategic Direction to all areas of Responsibility: Responsible for all lending growth, compliance, effective risk management and risk-based pricing strategies. Effectively develop and implement strategies for expansion and growth of lending programs based on changes in the industry and national and state economic conditions that align with the credit union’s strategic business plan. Drive the development and implementation of new products and services while analyzing the impact to the loan portfolio data to determine the impact on financial results and level of success. Compare activity with predetermined objectives and initiate revised process required to continuously improve lending productivity, efficiency and profitability. Makes recommendations to the CEO for preliminary review to modifications or additions to product and service mix prior to presenting to the ALCO. Proactively report to the Board of Directors the status of strategic goals in each area of responsibility. Be a subject matter expert through continued learning in all areas of responsibility. Develops secondary market partners and coordinates the sale of loans. Identify, analyze, actively develop and oversee the implementation of new process improvement solutions to enable better member and employee experience; leveraging technology. Responsible for upholding member service delivery as the highest priority. Performs other duties and functions when requested by the CEO. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: Excellent communication skills with effective written, verbal, and listening skills Must be highly motivated, a self-starter with strong sales, communication, collaboration and leadership skills. Must have a demonstrated knowledge of all rules, regulations and laws pertaining to commercial, mortgage and consumer lending. Must have a demonstrated knowledge of real estate, home equity, credit card and indirect lending products. Must have knowledge and understanding of commercial lending. Must be knowledgeable in IT/technological lending systems.
