Work involves creating, integrating, applying, and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.The Office of Student Life and Campus Community has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Campus Activities Coordinator position.The Student Life and Campus Community office provides leadership, support, and oversight of the following areas: Student Organizations, Campus Activities, The Sentry Newspaper, Sorority & Fraternity Life, Leadership Programs, the Student Government Association, and Community / Civic Engagement. The Campus Activities Coordinator also plays an active role on the Student Life & Campus Community team.This includes supporting large-scale collaborative initiatives, working with, and supporting peer events, participating in departmental planning, staff training and development, budgeting, and assessment efforts. This position interacts directly with students, faculty, associate deans, directors, and staff within the university and externally with community partners, employers, alumni, and other professionals.The University of Colorado Denver Campus Activities Coordinator is an important member of the Student Life & Campus Community team. The coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Student Life, will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of a comprehensive campus activities program for the student body at CU Denver to enhance the overall university experience, encourage co-curricular learning, and build community. The coordinator will provide leadership, support, and supervision to the student planning team to execute a variety of campus-wide events. The position will be responsible for ensuring that these events are executed professionally and successfully while promoting the university's mission and objectives. This position collaborates with all Student Life units and supports departmental services and events as assigned.Examples of Work PerformedStudent Supervision & Advising:
      • Actively supervise 6-8 student employees.
      • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate a team of student employees. Assist students in contracting, assessing risk, budget management, venue management, and day of event management.
      • Provide in-depth advising and development to the student team to create and execute student events and university traditions that help to advance student success objectives, in close collaboration with the Student Life and University Events teams.
      • Work with student employees to effectively market their events using many mediums including, but not limited to, social media, print advertising, campus newspaper ads, and on-campus digital marketing.
      • Collaborate, consult, and partner with university departments and tri-institutional partners across the Auraria Campus.
      • Provide event planning consultation and advising to student organizations, Student Government Association, and other student groups to aid in the success of their event planning efforts.Event Planning, Budgeting & Assessment:
        • Provide programming and support for large, campus-wide events.
        • Coordinate vendors for catering, event dcor, audio-visual, event-related design and printing projects, entertainment, etc., working within established event budgets.
        • Organize student staff members, volunteers, speakers, entertainers, and vendors in the planning and execution of events.
        • Serve on university programming & event committees, on-going projects as assigned, and/or based on professional interest. This responsibility can change annually. Some examples include the Extended Orientation Committee, Block Party Planning Committee, and Fall Fest/Spring Fling Planning Committee.
        • Manage, track, and report on event budgets and steward student fees to provide events to the student body of CU Denver. Prepare the annual budget request for the Student Government Association student fee review process.
        • Review and assess campus activities and utilize resulting data to make improvements.
        • Independently conceptualize and coordinate the logistics of the annual Grad Bash to kick off commencement weekend.
        • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks and special projects as requested.Student Life & Campus Community Support:
          • Support Student Life programming and various campus partnerships and committees.
          • Participate in the leadership development of students through leading trainings, workshops, and experiences.
          • Program within the Student Experience Curriculum.
          • Support the event planning skills of student organizations and their members.
          • Collaborate with peers to program for the campus.Salary and Benefits:The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $44,404 - $50,503.The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.FLSA Status: Not eligible for overtime (exempt)Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.             • A bachelor's degree in education, communication, social science, women and gender studies, psychology, computer science, information systems, business, health sciences, physical sciences, public administration, business administration, higher education, counseling, hospitality, liberal arts, finance, accounting, human services, student affairs, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
            • One (1) year of experience working in an institution of higher education in student activities, campus life, or related area . (Graduate-level experience may also be counted toward this requirement.Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.Preferred Qualifications :
              • Master's Degree in Higher Education / Student Affairs.

              • Experience leading a team.
              • Experience creating and managing budgets.
              • Experience working in non-profit or higher education.
