This is a long-time client of mine where I've placed many people including roughly 7 current team members. They are looking to add to their Fund Accounting Group in preparation for growth in 2022. This is a blended role of Accounting, Corporate FP&A, Investor Reporting, and Portfolio Management.

Here's the job:The Senior Fund Accountant will help manage the Industrial Real Estate Fund, our flagship open-end fund, working in collaboration with various teams including FP&A, portfolio management, and investor relations. The team member will manage the Yardi Investor Portal platform (Yardi IP) including investor onboarding, the capital call and distribution process, investor statements, investor return calculations, and performance fee calculation. The position will provide cross-departmental exposure providing the opportunity for involvement in a wide spectrum of the fund management process.

  • Yardi Investor Portal:
  • Manage all aspects of Yardi IP ensuring that information is accurate and accessible.
  • Ensure all investor agreements and other documents are uploaded to Yardi IP promptly.
  • Post investor reporting documents to Yardi IP, such as tax documents, capital call/distribution notices, financial statements/updates, etc.
  • Ensure that Yardi IP user interface is professional in appearance and functioning properly.
  • Capital Transactions:
  • Prepare capital call and distribution notices
  • Manage distribution payments. Includes independent verification of investor bank instructions and creating ACH batch payments utilizing Yardi IP
  • Record corresponding equity accounting entries in Yardi sub-ledgers promptly and reconcile cash transactions to capital accounts daily.
  • Assist Portfolio Manager and Fund Accounting with capital budgeting, modeling and forecasting as requested
  • Investor Reporting:
  • Assist with the preparation of recurring investor reporting packages and distribute them to investors in specified formats.
  • Calculate investor returns and performance fees, using Yardi IP and Yardi Investment Management (Yardi IM) capabilities.
  • Respond to investor requests and due diligence items, including summarizing historical fund and firm operating data.
  • Investor Acceptance (Subscription Documents and Onboarding):
  • Ensure investor acceptance due diligence is satisfactory and investor questionnaires are completed with no unresolved red flags.
  • Conduct and document KYC, OFAC, and AML procedures.
  • Confirm whether investor is foreign or domestic and update foreign controlled analysis and confirm whether investor is a pension fund and update pension held REIT workbook. Coordinate review with tax department as needed.
  • Maintain placement agent fee tracking and ensure timely payment of fees
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance:
  • Coordinate and support financial reporting department in compiling annual and quarterly financial statements in compliance with NCREIF PREA financial reporting standards.
  • Maintain REOC and 40 Act compliance worksheets.
  • Coordinate and support tax department in REIT test and preparation of tax returns.
    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field
    • Minimum of three years applicable work experience
    • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Willingness to learn new software and explore
    • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in an articulate and effective manner
    • Ability to build and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with internal and external partners
    • Self-motivated and team-oriented individual
    • Sound analytical and listening skills, and a proactive, collaborative problem-solver
    • Good organization skills, ability to adapt to a changing environment and detail-oriented
    • Ability to maintain confidential informationPreferred:
      • Relevant certification (e.g., CPA, CFA)
      • Prior fund accounting experience with closed or open-end funds
      • Prior real estate experience or knowledge of real estate operations/accountingby Jobble
