Come join a rewarding team of employees within OSMRE who are located throughout the United States.ResponsibilitiesAs a Accountant, you may: Plan and conduct financial management studies that involve analysis of complex data and interrelated processes. Develops innovative recommendations for eliminating problems or improvements, and writes reports that document findings and recommendations. Review and analyze data in reports and financial statements and identifies problems, discrepancies, abnormal trends and control weaknesses. Determines if adjustments or corrections are required. Provides and implements solutions to correct internal control and reporting weaknesses. Review and analyze the effect of new or revised regulatory changes, and develops financial management reporting procedures. Prepare external management reports, statements, supporting schedules, justification, and related documents required by OMB, Treasury, and/or DOI to ensure date consistency and integrity.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsApplicant must possess one year of specialized experience with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position that are typically in or directly related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to the same or next lower grade level in the Federal service, or comparable pay band system. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Specialized Experience is defined as: Independently conducting tasks analyzing program operations for impact upon the accounting/financial management system; analyzing program trends/anomalies in accounting system transactions; analyzing specific problem areas arising within the accounting system or program operations and devising solutions; and evaluating the current status of accounting or reporting systems. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies." Time-in-grade restrictions apply. Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade requirements contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart 5.
