Job Description:

Duties: Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs

for software enhancements and new products. Develops software tools

including operating systems, compilers, networks, utilities, databases

and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility. Applies

knowledge of Linux, Unix, and Windows hardware and software systems.

Familiar with virtualization of hardware and its impact on performance

and operation of software systems. Conducts complex programming while

working in a team. Under direction of manager or team lead, designs and

implements software enhancements, corrects defects and creates new

products. Writes commercial/enterprise grade software. Performs testing,

performance analysis, and debugging of programs. Documents and

communicates on technical topics, including presentations to peers and

other groups as needed. Applies subject matter expertise within current

domain, including database theory, replication, and performance

analysis. Responsible for aspects of database audit product and for

performance analysis projects.

Requirements: Master's degree in computer science, electrical

engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education

equivalent) and two (2) years of experience in the design and

development of databases and operating systems OR, a Bachelor’s degree

in computer science, electrical engineering or related field (willing to

accept foreign education equivalent) and 5 years of experience as noted

above, OR a PhD in computer science, electrical engineering or related

field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and no

experience. Also requires demonstrated expertise (DE) developing

database structures, sorting algorithms, and indexing using programming

languages such as C, Python and Scripting; DE utilizing the architecture

of UNIX, Linux, and Windows operating system internals; DE performing

database performance optimization to optimize data retrieval, sorting,

replication, encryption and compression in NoSQL and SQL environments;

DE using multiplatform tools for investigating performance enhancements

using GNU gprof, AIX trace, truss, and HP-UX glance, Caliper, kctune,

and Windows Visual Studio performance profiler; for source code building

and compilation using Visual Studio, gcc and g++; for source code

management using Git, SVN and ClearCase; and for debugging tools using

dbx, gdb and Visual Studio debugger; DE utilizing computer science

algorithms such as hashing, data security, data structures,

multithreading, and prioritization; DE researching data challenges and

developing solutions to resolve issues related to systems performance,

tuning and optimization; and DE interfacing with customer management to

gather requirements, and translating requirements into technical design.
